Synopsis:
Tucker book synopsis๏ฟผ๏ฟผ โTucker Finds His Forever Homeโ tells the story of a young pit bull mix dog who is forced out of his home by his familyโs landlord. The next morning, the Animal Resource Center finds him and takes him to the shelter. Tucker is excited about his new surroundings, a soft bed, and high hopes of being adopted. Weeks go by and Tuckerโs happiness fades as dog after dog is adopted and he is passed over because they think he is mean. One day, Tucker meets someone special. A woman named Lyla, who thinks he is just perfect the way he is. She adopts Tucker and takes him to her dog-friendly community to give him happiness, unconditional love, and a forever home.๏ฟผ๏ฟผ Tucker has fun adventures and feels completely accepted in this new town. He realizes that he isnโt a worthless dog after all. In the end Tucker found out that being himself is good enough.๏ฟผ

About the Author:
Beth Miller, Founder of Wagtown, is the nationโs top expert on dog-friendly communities, and how to bring responsibility and authenticity to the much overused term, โdog friendly.โ Beth quit her job in 2016 after decades of experience in communications and marketing. She focused on nonprofit organizations and how to create culture shifts in communities across the United States.
Beth has been very active in communities across the United States as they take steps toward adding authenticity to promises of dog friendliness and integrate ways to encourage responsible dog owner behavior. Humane treatment of animals that does not discriminate by breed is a pivotal part of becoming dog friendly.
Her vision is to create a โWagtown communityโ for everyone. Her journey led her to become increasingly passionate about speaking to young learners about animal welfare. Her approach of seeing the all-too-common experiences of discrimination and hope through the eyes of a young bully breed is eye opening for children and families.
About the artist:
One of our commitments for the book was to partner with a local artist. Erica Schindler is a self taught, dog loving artist from Dayton, Ohio. Though she creates with multiple mediums, she has found watercolor to be not only her personal favorite but also her most expressive work.
She tries to stay active with creation, so sheโs always producing something new. Creating illustrations for a childrenโs book has always been a dream of hers, so when she was asked to help with โTucker Finds His Forever Home,โ she jumped on board.
Erica loves the ability to use color to describe feeling and imagery. The watercolors she creates are filled with relatable emotion.
meet nala mae. the dog who inspired the art:
Nala Mae: Rescue dog extraordinaire. Meet the dog who inspired the art! Nala Mae was in need of rescue. As a pup, she needed some TLC and socialization after a rough start in life. Before the first brushstroke, we did a Tom Gilliam photo shoot with Nala Maeโs foster (a police officer who found Nala Mae wandering โฆ and later adopted her) . Sheโs a special pooch who had a fun time while we took pictures at a local park. Hats off to Adopt-a-Pit Rescue for caring for pooches in need of love and for coordinating the model for โTucker Finds His Forever Home.โ
